After countless projects with Rick Simmons during my twenty eight years as manager of the Derecktor Gunnell and Rybovich Spencer yacht yards, my choice of vendor for the installation of the exterior glass for the 281’ new build Cakewalk V was an easy one. As project manager on the largest yacht ever built in the United States, I needed vendors on whom I could depend completely and Rick performed as reliably as ever.

Rick collaborated on the design and selection of the glass manufacturer, and coordinated the production and delivery of the material. He and his team took the inevitable hurdles typical of the last stages of new construction in stride, working when and where necessary to accommodate the exterior paint and interior installation schedules. Rick’s employees were diligent, cheerful and skillful, and made the installation of huge pieces of glass under sometimes trying circumstances look easy.

The final installation was entirely in keeping with the original mission of the build, which was to complete the yacht to a standard of quality that was as good, or better, than that achieved by the best Northern European yards. I have no hesitation in giving Rick Simmons and AvMar my highest recommendation and look forward to the opportunity of working with them again.
